Wagga trainer Chris Heywood hopes Mosh Vain’s maiden victory is a sign of things to come.

The four-year-old led from start to finish scoring a dominant 3¾ length victory in the first division of the Mark Anthony’s Clothing Co Maiden Plate (1200m).

It was an impressive victory but was some time in the making, coming at start number nine.

“He should have won a race before now,” Heywood said.

“It’s always been there, it’s just been a matter of how to bring it on.

“It’s the first time he hasn’t been driven out of the gates, he’s always been driven forward and then got overracing and hasn’t finished off. Today he just jumped there and was able to relax.”

Mosh Vain ($12.00) dashed clear of Kylara ($31.00), who finished off well, while Fashion Tip ($7.00) was a half length back in third place.

Heywood was happy to see Mosh Vain run home his last 600m in 34.41 seconds.

“That’s pretty schmick.”
