Nominations for the Wagga Local Achievement Awards are open across five categories – diversity and Inclusion, education, healthy and active living, arts and culture, and intergenerational leadership.
Formerly known as the community service awards, the accolades recognise and celebrate the volunteer work of people living in our community aged 50 and over.
This year, for the first time, the volunteer work of young people aged 12 to 25 years is acknowledged in the category of intergenerational leadership, Wagga City Council’s director community Janice Summerhayes said.
“We are lucky to have so many people in our community that selflessly give their time to clubs, groups, causes and more,” Ms Summerhayes said.
“The Wagga Local Achievement Awards are a fantastic way to thank older volunteers for their enormous contribution to our community.
“If you or your community group know someone whose work deserves to be celebrated, please get your nominations in by March 16.”
Nomination forms are available from customer service at the Civic Centre or online
finalists will be presented with their awards on 9 April at a ceremony at the civic centre.
