The lack of local riders making the trip west is due to the excessive costs associated with getting to Adelaide, according to Wagga Cycling Club publicity officer Cameron Oke.
Oke said the proximity of the NJTS to the Christmas Carnivals also played a part.
Standout Wagga performers earlier in the series included Rebel Brooker, who broke into the overall top five in the junior women’s 17s category, as well as Ed Wright, whose exploits included taking out the derby sprint final across two separate days during round three in Brisbane last month.
