Emergency services were called to the scene at 12:32pm and had to cut open a car door to free the 88-year-old man after two cars and a truck collided at the intersection of Dobney and Chaston avenues.
The elderly driver was treated at the scene for what appeared to be a compound fracture or a severe right arm break as well as some cuts and abrasions before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Turvey Park Fire and Rescue station officer Jeff Edwards said traffic was at a standstill for about 45 minutes while the scene was cleared.
There were no injuries to the other drivers or pedestrians.
