For Junee’s Jason Hill, spending much of his time on the road is just a part of life as an elite hockey manager.
After overseeing a host of teams including the Illawarra open men and the NSW under 18s indoor and field hockey teams, Hill’s picked up two gold medals, one silver and one bronze across four state championships last year.
He has since turned his attention to what promises to be a jam-packed 2018.
In addition to going around again with the Illawarra open men and under 18s indoor and field hockey squads, he will pack his bags for Sydney and Tasmania to look after the under 21, open men's Masters and under 18 Men's NSW State Teams to compete at The Australian National Indoor and Field Hockey National Championships.
He is currently travelling between Sydney and Wollongong on a weekly basis, spending more time behind the wheel than Niki Lauda in his prime as he prepares the under 21 NSW side for the national titles.
“It's a busy few months ahead but it’s always a joy to be involved with the sport in some form or another,” Hill said.
Next up will be working with the the open men’s Masters team.
It never ends for Hill, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“It keeps me active, healthy and makes me feel young at heart,” he said.
