A B-double carrying logs caught ablaze just after 3.20pm yesterday on the Hume Highway, starting a grass fire.

Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue attended the scene and closed the southbound lanes of the Hume Highway to attack the blaze near the Mingay rest area. It was contained just after 4.05pm and one southbound lane reopened.
The truck was extensively burnt but the driver is believed to have escaped unharmed.
