Wagga residents have answered the Red Cross Donor Centre’s call for assistance over the Christmas break in droves.

120 donors rolled up their sleeves between December 27 and December 29 before a further 54 donations on January 2 tipped the total to 174 in all.
Centre manager Neil Wright was blown away with the support.
“It’s incredible that we almost doubled our target of 100 donations,” he said.
“The majority of our donations were plasma, with 112 in total.”
Returning donor Sophie McRae gave a whole blood donation with her partner, Sam Turner, and said it was something she had wanted to do for some time.
“I had been making excuses and told myself I was time poor, but I had the week off and thought I might as well do it,” Ms McRae.
“A New Year’s resolution, I suppose.”
