NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers were called to the property near the Hume Highway at 10.04pm on December 31.
South West Slopes RFS district co-ordinator Inspector Tom McDevitt said the fire was contained to the building at 11.55pm, before it was brought under control at 1.10am on January 1.
Inspector McDevitt said there was no-one home at the time of the fire and all people living in the property had been accounted for safely.
He described the fire as “quite intense” and said the home was a “total loss".
RFS volunteers from Tumblong were joined by the North and South Gundagai brigades, as well as Gundagai’s Fire and Rescue NSW crew.
The cause of the fire is to be determined and is being investigated.
Inspector McDevitt said RFS fire investigators and NSW Police forensic services were working to determine the cause.
