Crews from the SES and Turvey Park Fire & Rescue responded to a series of weather-related incidents on Friday, which saw some heavy rainfall after what has been a mostly dry December for Wagga.

Gauges at Wagga Airport recorded 26mm of rain, marking the first significant downpour to hit town in almost four weeks.
Firefighters from Turvey Park were called out to Bourke Street around 7pm after the wet weather caused arcing wires in the street’s power lines, which is a common fire hazard when heavy rain follows an extended period of dry weather.
Crews created an exclusion zone around the power pole and were able to successfully avoid a major incident from occurring.
The SES also received two call-outs after leaking roofs sparked fears of flooding among Wagga residents, but both incidents were managed promptly and major water damage was avoided.
Fortunately, Wagga awoke to clear skies this morning, and the weather is set to stay dry and sunny in the lead up to the new year.
