Despite losing $5 million dollars when the club went into administration three years ago, Kelly remained involved and continued to help run the club after the NRL took control to help turn things around.
The Titans were put up for sale by the NRL again in August. That drew interest from two franchise-hopefuls, the North Sydney Bears and Brisbane Bombers’ bid team.
However, the NRL announced the local consortium of Kelly, his wife Joanne, former club chair Rebecca Frizelle and her partner Brett as the new owners on Friday.
"I've been involved in this game throughout my life at a regional and grass-roots level, and while my time with the Titans has been challenging, I genuinely believe we can make a difference now that the ownership has been resolved," Kelly said.
