Coolamon Shire Council received the notification of the lodgement, plus two engineering reports relating to safety works and initial plans to rehabilitate the premises.
Built around 1912, the pub has been the centrepiece of the little town until a suspicious fire on January 11, 2008 forced it to close. The owners at the time missed out on a $1.2million payout after a clerical oversight saw the wrong box on the insurance form ticked.
The premises was bought by the current owners for $50,000 however upgrades have stalled due to safety concerns, the owners failing to pay contractors, and disagreements between council and the owners regarding proper construction processes.
A council meeting is scheduled for December 14 to discuss what happens next.
