Reigning best and fairest Adam Raso has announced a move to the Gold Coast, but that hasn’t stopped Doolin from brainstorming ways his side can improve.
“It's a good team but I think we got it wrong towards end of last season,” Doolin said.
“I have some ideas in terms of moving guys into different positions which I think should work much better for us.
“So I think it will be well worth the effort to go around again.”
Doolin said the ripple effect caused by Raso’s departure was yet to be seen.
“It could have a negative impact, or it could go the other way if the boys really step up and work harder to fill his shoes.”
Doolin said that while his team needed to tidy up their defence, he had “no doubt” that his team would be competitive next season.
United finished the 2017 regular season in third place, before being knocked out in the first round of the finals following a 5-4 shootout with Tolland.
But United's season was hit hard by injuries and suspensions, including Carmelo Trifogli getting himself banned for two games following a heated clash Henwood Park’s Lachlan Davis, while Raso and Nick Trifogli were among those battling injuries.
