An off season mix up within the Octopuses’ ranks has injected young players into both of the club’s top flight teams, and Brown believes it will give her a side a decided advantage against the older Raiders.
“We want plenty of fast breaks and counter attacks, lots of speed,” Brown said.
“Raiders are a bit of an older side, so we’re hoping to break away up the pool and leave them for dead.”
Brown said she expected speedster Laarn White to be a particularly valuable weapon in that sense.
But it won’t all be about the offensive end of the pool for Octopuses.
“We’ll need to play some clean defence,” Brown said.
“We can’t afford to give away any cheap points.”
In the other first grade men’s game, Dolphins will do battle with Octopuses Black.
