Over 3000 attendees packed into the Murrumbidgee Turf Club to catch the likes of Moving Pictures, Gangajang, Dragon and Chocolate Starfish in action.
Empire Touring event and marketing manager, Samantha Leighton, said the event was a roaring success.
“We’re so thrilled with the second installment of Rock at the Races in Wagga,” she said.
“It was terrific - everyone had a great time and we’re definitely looking at coming back next year.”
Murrumbidgee Turf Club CEO Scott Sanbrook said he was delighted with the event’s proceedings and praised the high standards of crowd behaviour.
“We’ll have to review the event and take it to the MTC board but we’ll certainly look at hosting it again in the future,” he said.
“We had very few incidences to report and the feedback from police has been very positive.”
Mr Sanbrook said Rock at the Races was exactly the type of event Wagga has been crying out for.
“The music and acts hit an older age demographic and that’s bringing in an entirely new audience,” he said.
“Quite a number of people who attended would have gone last year and they all came back to see it again.
“The acts are really first class.”
It’s a feeling mirrored by the event’s thriving attendees with spectators and bands alike sharing their support for a third installment in Wagga.
“It was great to be back out there,” said Chocolate Starfish frontman Adam Thompson.
“People that liked us back in the 80s and 90s are having their kids experience our music and they’re thinking “wow, this is what a full rock and roll show is like!”.”
Meredith Hester and Stacey Hofert have been both years at the MTC and were enormous fans of the weekend’s lineup.
“It’s just the best. I have to say I loved Wa Wa Nee, because I’m an eighties girl,” Meredith said.
“It’s awesome to have all these bands, all from our vintage in the same spot,” Stacey added.
