The two-year-old arrived at Westmead Children’s Hospital after 1.30pm and is being treated for burns to less than 10 per cent of his body. 

His family did not wish to comment.

Wagga’s NSW Ambulance acting inspector, Andrew Long said the young boy suffered partial thickness burns across 10 per cent of his body. 

The water – believed to have come from a kettle – scolded the two-year-old’s thigh and face. 

Toll helicopter paramedics transported the boy to Westmead Children’s Hospital

The screams of an injured toddler could be heard from the ambulance helicopter as it prepared to rush the two-year-old burns victim to Sydney hospital. 

It is understood the child, from the eastern Riverina region, sustained burns to his upper body after coming into contact with boiling water.

A spokesman for NSW Ambulance confirmed a rescue helicopter was dispatched, following an emergency call from the Urana area at about 8.30am.

Paramedics were responding to “reports of a two-year-old boy sustaining facial and upper body burns from boiling water,” the spokesman said.

The helicopter landed at Collingullie Oval and met a waiting ambulance, before taking off again at about 11am.
