Sophie, 16, scored three tries for the Touch NSW development squad in their 9-5 win over Sunshine Coast to open the competition.
She was similarly electric in the second game of the day, a 13-1 victory over Tasmania, using her athletic background and lightning-quick speed to wreak havoc on the wing.
Assistant coach Brandon McDonald said he was blown away by the local athlete’s natural ability.
“Just to make the team was a great effort after being so green, but she’s playing extremely well at this level right away,” he said.
Play resumes on Thursday.
