Leeton business student Madison Coelli’s efforts were recognised at Department of Industry’s annual awards night on Thursday.
“I feel so lucky,” Ms Coelli said. “I am very appreciative as I didn’t expect to get this far.”
The NSW Training Awards ceremony recognises vocational, education and training students, teachers, providers and employers in NSW.
Ms Coelli was among 10 winners from TAFE NSW.
“A lot of people in Leeton don’t realise how much you can achieve in a small regional town,” she said. “I hope my success encourages other students to just go for it.”
Miss Coelli said she was honoured to be acknowledged.
Southern Cotton manager Kate O’Callaghan congratulated her former employee on the achievement.
Ms O’Callaghan said: “I’m incredibly proud of where Madison has taken her career”.
Fellow TAFE student Helene Mortlock, from Jerilderie, took out the Special Award for a Woman in a Non-traditional Trade or Vocation.
The carpentry and construction student said she was “thrilled and excited about winning”.
