Australia Post’s head of community relations Nicky Tracey hosted a panel discussion at a breakfast on Thursday, which was attended by more than 100 people.
Along with Ms Tracey, the panellists included Belinda Allitt of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation, founder of regional Pitchfest Di Somerville and the chief executive officer of Startup Victoria, Georgie Beattie.
Attendees had the chance to draw on the panellist's business and management experience.
“Tall Poppies breakfasts have been a part of every state and territory final of the Australia Post Regional Pitchfest, and we were thrilled to host 100 guests in Wagga ahead of the national gala on Friday night,”Ms Tracey said.
“The Tall Poppies breakfast covers topics that we see affect start-ups across the country, such as taking the daunting step to starting a business, how to find the right information and the importance of having great support networks and collaborators.
“There is no doubt that Wagga is setting the pace when it comes to maximising the opportunities and resources for anyone wanting to bring their business idea to fruition,” said Ms Tracey.
A spokeswoman for Australia Post said the Tall Poppies breakfasts were popular events and well-supported by business communities.
“It is for anyone interested in hearing more about female business success stories in a friendly and supportive networking environment,” she said.
“No matter what size or stage your business is at – the Tall Poppies Breakfast will help you connect with other like-minded people and leave you with practical tips and insights to help you drive your own business success.”
“We believe that Australia’s small businesses are the powerhouse of our economy. However, we believe there is huge untapped potential to be found in Australia’s female entrepreneurs and we want to help more of these women to start or grow their business,” the spokeswoman said.
