Leading all the way, Ohokas Roman held off the challenge of Navajo Rocky to win by by a half head.
Wagga trainer Peter Menz has had plenty of trouble with the rising 10-year-old, but believes he’s perfected a winning recipe after reverting to a high protein, high fat diet with little carbohydrates to deal with tying up.
After a second last week, Menz thought the writing was on the wall.
“He never gave up and that’s what I liked about him this week,” Menz said.
It was also a special win for driver Matt Harrington after the death of his grandfather Peter Harrington on Sunday.
