Salmon, 18, was beat out by fellow Aussie Isis Holt, who went on to claim gold in the T35 category.
The Wagga local will now compete in the 100 metre sprint at 5:05am on Thursday (local time).
The event marks Salmon's third world championships.
Her selection came after the devastation of missing out on the Rio Paralympics last year.
