Features of of the plan include the removal of a boundary fence and hedge to improve safety and reduce vandalism, according to Strategic Asset Planner (Parks and Recreation) Ben Creighton.
“The first steps which are to remove the existing boundary fences and hedge will be done toward the end of the year,” he said.
“Under the implementation plan, there is approximately $2.2 million and that’s over taking a staged approach.”
The plan also includes two rugby league grounds with upgraded lighting, a wet weather shelter between the junior fields and increased access to amenities.
“What we’re taking into this is the outcomes of the consultations and more broadly, looking at the community user for the plan,” Mr Creighton said.
“The Harris Park upgrade is really about improving the existing facility.
The draft master plan can be viewed on council’s website and submissions can be made before August 1, Mr Creighton said.
“I would encourage the community to have their say and provide feedback.”
