It was a tale of two halves as the Strikers exploded into the second stanza, quadrupling their 2-0 halftime lead before Tyler Allen iced Coota’s cake with a stunning finisher from outside the box. 

Aaron Kemp was the chief destroyer with four goals while Allen, Brent Farnsworth, Brenton Forsyth, Adam McPhail and Lachlan Cook kept the scorers busy in the second half.

Amazingly, the sides remained in a scoreless embrace for 25 minutes before Forsyth netted an Allen cross to open the Strikers’ account.

The Jaguars responded strongly, pressing for territory with a series of raking kicks but the Strikers were dominating in attack and looked threatening down the left flank.

A 45^th minute strike from Aaron Kemp doubled the home side’s lead just before halftime but few could have predicted the seven-goal onslaught that was to follow.

Kemp nailed his second from the spot after a 50^th minute Jaguars infringement inside the box before finishing another Allen cross 40 seconds later to complete his hat-trick in under six minutes of game time.

Teenager Lachlan Cook was next to strike, cleaning up a Farnsworth effort to take the Strikers ahead 5-0 before a four-goal blitz – courtesy of McPhail, Farnsworth, Allen and the ever-present Kemp – launched the home side to unprecedented heights.

“We’ll take that result any day,” Strikers skipper McPhail said post-game.

“There’s plenty of positives to take out of that and if results keep going our way, we could be in the top four next week.”

The Strikers take on fourth-placed Leeton next weekend.
