The man’s juvenile record includes various serious offences including an aggravated break and enter.
The 18-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was present in the children’s court as his sentence was handed down on Friday.
Solicitor Alina Youself said a serious motor accident, which left the accused in a critical condition, had acted as a wake up call.
