After months of hard work the ribbon has finally been cut at the opening of the city’s first women’s shed.
With thousands of residents heading down to the grand opening fair on Sunday, president Kerrie Luff said she was “on a high” from the crowd’s reaction to the project.
“We thought we’d get a few membership sign ups but we never imagined it would be as big as it was,” Ms Luff said.
“We are all just over the moon, people had to park miles away just to get in.”
Ms Luff said the women’s shed would now focus on developing its resources and membership with hopes to eventually build a proper workshop.
