Max Housden, 21-years-old and already one of the country’s top five sprinters, traveled with a small contingent from the NSW Institute of Sport to the World Series of Bicycling in Pennsylvania this month.
Housden has continued to compete against some of the world’s best in a bid to boost his chances for national selection.
In the 200 metre sprint, Housden finished 32nd with a time of 10.9 seconds, just missing out on progressing to the next round.
He had previously covered the same distance in 10.2 seconds, which would have been good enough for first place.
Housden is hoping to complete a standing lap in the same time as Olympic starter Nathan Hart.
He will continue competing in the US until early next month.
