Almost everyone had a turn on the stage, from dancers to local Filipino 457 workers serenading the packed Forest Hill Public Hall.
The annual celebration was attended by Sydney Consul Melanie Rita B. Diano.
Ms Diano encouraged the community to embrace the typical Filipino trait of “cooperation” in striving to work together for change and a united community.
Officially on June 12, this year marks 119 years of independence from Spain for the Philippines.
Dancers took the stage to popular Spanish tune Despacito, to playfully embrace unity and forgiveness with their former colonisers.
