Rain in the morning but cleared up during the day. Enemy planes over at night. Had a rude awakening during the night or rather morning. The Capt., Q M. and his W.O. became very merry on rum and at 3 a.m. came to my dugout to disturb the other W.O. and myself. They stayed for three-quarters of an hour alternately wrestling and talking. One of them seeing Gwen’s photo was calm for 15 minutes going into raptures over it.
Eventually they left and we remade our beds and went to sleep again. At night we had a lecture by a Tommy Sgt. a bachelor of Music and it was a real treat. He briefly traced music from the beginning, named and described the various composers, playing sections from several and made on the whole an enjoyable evening. I feel that I have been musically starved and certainly appreciate it more than I did in prewar days. Wrote several letters during the day.
