Wagga duty officer Nigel Turney said the family slept unaware as their Kia Cerato, cash, mobile phone and handbag was stolen from their Featherwood Drive property.
Police have since recovered the burnt out car at Ashmont's Silverlight Reserve while the mobile phone was located in a backyard of a different Ashmont address.
