A mixed team of Wagga players won a tournament in Canberra on Saturday.
With the bare minimum of players, Louie Quinto, Matthew Lloyd, Suzanna Waia, Lisa Cameron, Luke Robinson and Brendan Watson won division two of the Canberra Cup.
They dropped the first set in the final, and recovered to win the last two sets (20-25, 25-10, 25-22).
The group of friends play in three different teams in the Thursday night competition in Wagga.
They watched division one games, and have considered playing up a tier next year.
But to be competitive, they need to recruit a dynamo.
“We wouldn’t have the firepower to compete in division one,” Watson said.
“Most of those teams had an absolute giant that was killing it.”
