The pair wasted no time together after their 1957 marriage, with four children in the first five years of marriage.
Seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and an abundance of health issues later, the two are as thick as ever.
On Saturday, the pair will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
“We were just a couple of kids but our only ambition was to get married and have a family,” Mrs Hubbard said.
The Hubbard’s family ties were just as strong as their devotion to each other, driving from Wagga to Canberra every weekend for several years to babysit two of their precious grandchildren.
“It’s all about commitment and it comes naturally to us; we are lucky to have such a close, supporting family,” Mr Hubbard said.
Mr Hubbard said the key to their happy marriage was patience.
“Separation and divorce are the biggest problem with children in society today,” Mr Hubbard said.
“I knew I would never leave my kids and they would always have the benefit of two loving parents.
“You have to make sacrifices if you want to keep your marriage going.”
