Six Wagga kids were ball boys, 11 walked on with Jets players, 10 held banners at half time, 33 played mini games at half time, and one lucky boy was interviewed on the big screen during Sydney FC’s 2-0 win over Newcastle.
“It’s a massive boost for the kids,” Wagga spokesman Liam Dedini said.
“A couple of them had never been to see an A-League game, it gives them something to push towards.”
Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque was generous with his time, staying back to ensure Dedini went home with a fully-signed shirt.
The experience is one of the benefits Wagga players have been reaping from the broader partnership between Sydney FC and Football Wagga, forged in August 2016.
