That’s the appeal from new Barellan coach Darren Jackson, after a planned practice match against West Wyalong fell through on the Two Blues.
Barellan’s Farrer League season opens at home against North Wagga on April 8 and Jackson is hoping to arrange a testing hit-out at short notice.
The Two Blues’ off-season including signing four Canberra-based players as they look for significant improvement in their third year back in the Farrer League.
They’ve also picked up Glen Snaidero from Griffith as assistant coach.
Meantime, former Swan, Michael Griffiths will have his first hit-out as coach of Coleambally on Saturday.
Griffiths will get the chance to run his eye over last year’s grand finalists when the Blues take on Hay. He expects he’ll play a couple of quarters and watch a couple of quarters as he assesses his players.
“We won’t worry about the scoreboard, we’ll be throwing up different scenarios and seeing how we react,” Griffiths said.
The former Griffith ruckman took over from Josh Hamilton, who’s yet to decide whether he’ll play this year after being suspended for eight matches after last year’s grand final.
The Blues are among a host of Farrer and Riverina League teams involved in pre-season fixtures, including Collingullie-Glenfield Park in action at Marrar on Saturday and North Wagga taking on Turvey Park on Friday night.
The Riverina League begins on April 22, a fortnight after the Farrer League.
