Griffith City Council's General Manager in hospital following incident

General manager of Griffith City Council Brett Stonestreet is in hospital after suffering stab wounds on Wednesday morning.

Police confirmed they were called to a residence where a 55-year-old man had suffered some stab wounds.

The man was admitted to Griffith Base Hospital and is in a stable condition.

A man has been arrested and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Griffith mayor John Dal Broi said it was his understanding Mr Stonestreet would make a full recovery.

“The general manager has had a personal incident, he will fully recover, he has been hospitalised and in the meantime we wish him and his family well,” Cr Dal Broi said.

“In the meantime I have appointed Max Turner as acting general manager until such time as Mr Stonestreet resumes duties.”
