Mrs St Clair lost her daughter to melanoma more than six years ago and has since dedicated her life to the Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust in her honour.
“I look at the pain and discomfort patients have to go through with melanoma and the heartbreak families go through,” Mrs St Clair said.
“The bit of pain I’m going to have walking around the lake is really nothing.”
More than 200 residents headed to Apex Park on Sunday morning to take on Lap the Lake alongside Mrs St Clair, raising awareness for her cause.
The funds raised go toward a specialist melanoma care nurse, who supports patients and families in the community, free of charge.
Mrs St Clair said she was not surprised at how much community support there was for what will now become an annual event.
“It’s quite humbling to see so many people stepping out to support the trust,” Mrs St Clair said.
Wagga resident Leigh Ryan said he was inspired to walk the five kilometres with his family.
“The work they’ve done in Amie’s memory is just incredible,” Mr Ryan said.
