Her dedication and tireless hours behind the scenes of the eisteddfod has earned her a nomination for Citizen of the Year this Australia Day.
Mrs Jacobson’s nomination came from South Wagga Rotary and she said she was shocked and flattered by the acknowledgement.
“You don't think of these things … you don’t think of the awards,” she said.
“It’s just lovely.”
Mrs Jacobson started by making afternoon teas and doing fundraising for the event.
She is currently the dance convener, treasurer and life member of the eisteddfod.
The eisteddfod runs twice a year – May and September – and while Mrs Jacobson does the bulk of the work, she credits her volunteers with their assistance.
“I have a lot of people that help but I do a lot of work,” she said.
“There’s not many days go by that I’m not doing something (for the eisteddfod).
“It keeps me going but I do enjoy it.”
People have approached Mrs Jacobson while she has been out this week to congratulate her on her nomination.
Mrs Jacobson was born in Wagga and said it would be an honour to obtain this title in her home town.
“I’m not getting too excited but it would be lovely,” she said.
Australia Day Award winners will be announced on January 25 from 6.30pm.
