“These blokes have no excuse … they should know better,” said Kevin Kerr.
“They don’t know the meaning of respect.”
The desecration was made public by The Border Mail newspaper, which obtained a Snapchat picture of two 17-year-olds urinating on the Monument Hill memorial early Thursday morning.
The teenagers handed themselves into police on Monday morning.
Mr Kerr spoke of the hurt ex-servicemen and women felt when war memorials were disrespected.
He said the memorials had the same status as a grave.
“How would they (the two teenagers) feel if we urinated on their parents’ graves?” Mr Kerr asked.
“They would probably kick up a stink, and rightly so.
“Why did they do it? Were they drunk and did not know what they were doing, or were they being smart?”
