Police to target remote areas and back roads as part of weekend drug, drink driving blitz

POLICE will launch a drink and drug driving blitz this weekend as part of a region-wide operation.

Operation Chrome 2 will see scores of extra police on the road, particularly targeting remote areas and back roads.

The blitz aims to reduce fatalities on the road.

“Two-thirds of road deaths occur on country roads,” Inspector Peter McLay from Wagga Police said. “This will be a high-visibility operation, especially on Saturday night when people are more likely to be out drinking.”
