A homage to a Victorian age that believed science would solve the world’s problems, the genre is heavily rooted in mechanics and decoration – and a good excuse to dress up.
The Steam Punk Ball in Wagga tomorrow night will raise money for the Demonstration Gardens.
Mr Rees expects creative homemade costumes on Friday night.
“They didn’t have a digital idea at the time, everything was mechanical,” Demonstration Gardens co-ordinator Jim Rees said.

The Steam Punk Ball is on tomorrow from 6.30pm at the North Wagga Hall.
Tickets are available by contacting Mr Rees on 0411 417 956.
