The Riverina Conservatorium of Music (RCM) is bringing its new patron, Graham Abbott, to deliver the inaugural Peter Sculthorpe Lecture. Mr Sculthorpe was RCM’s first patron and he wrote a five-part piece called Gundyarri Wagga Wagga before his death in 2014.
RCM director Hamish Tait said he was “excited” Mr Abbott was coming.
“After the sad death of Mr Sculthorpe, the RCM wanted to honour him and the support he gave us,” Mr Tait said. “We feel it’s a fitting tribute to hold an annual event in his name.”
The Peter Sculthorpe Lecture will be held at 1pm on Friday at the Wagga Art Gallery. Everyone is welcome to attend the free event.
