Sir Ottavio failed by a nose to hold out Correggio at Wagga two days ago and is set to race again.
“It won’t worry him,” Sutherland said.
“He is fit and well and I expect him to run a big race. I have backed him up before quickly and he has gone well.
“There are no other suitable races coming up and we have missed a lot of racing with the wet tracks so he may as well start.”
Sir Ottavio will contest the Leeton Toyota Benchmark 65 (1400m) after racing over a mile on Saturday and will again be ridden by Michael Travers.
“The horse’s aim in the Hair Of The Dog Cup at Gundagai so he will have this start and then one at the end of the month to have him right,” Sutherland said.
“His fitness wasn’t quite there on Saturday and he will be better for the run.”
