His place in the decider against Southcity was in jeopardy due to illness, however the Tigers made the call on Saturday morning after the star hooker pulled up well from Friday’s training session.
“He trained well last night and surprised me by how well he went,” Tigers captain-coach James Smart said.
“He will right.”
Gundagai has decided against starting the reigning Weissel Medallist.
“He probably won’t start,” Smart said.
“Brock Dunn will start as Brock has trained there all week and I thought he played really well there last week.
“Those two will work in together as they have all season.”
Luff missed the preliminary final win over Junee on Sunday before undergoing surgery on Monday to remove an abscess.
Speaking on Friday, Luff said he had been struggling to get out of bed earlier in the week but was making swift progress.
“The last couple of days I have really been crook and haven’t had my mind set on football, but the last 48 hours have really changed my perspective on things,” Luff said.
“I will do everything in my power to try and be right to get out there on Sunday.”
Before Friday night’s training run, Smart rated him as “no chance” to play but was impressed by the improvement shown by the 22-year-old.
It is now all systems go as the Tigers look to win back-to-back titles at Equex Centre on Sunday.
