The city will celebrate Alicia Quirk’s success at a special homecoming celebration on Thursday.
Quirk was a member of the Women’s Rugby Sevens team that took home the inaugural gold medal for Australia at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Wagga City Council has extended an invitation for residents to congratulate the champion at the Civic Centre from 5pm, and possibly get a photo and autograph with the star playmaker.
Along with Batlow’s Sharni Williams, who was the team co-captain, the Australians defeated New Zealand 24-17 in the first week of the Olympic Games.
