The final patient to make the move to the Rural Referral Hospital, Mr Doig described the empty building as a “ghost town”.
“There were no machines, no nurses, no doctors and no-one pacing up and down the hall,” Mr Doig said.
He said he was excited to be part of history as Wagga Base Hospital’s final patient.
“The nurses and wardsmen were cheering me on … it’s great to be part of history.”
