The thrill of driving a powerful, loud vehicle and catching up with mates has seen one Wagga local go to the Summernats for 15 years.

Car enthusiast Dave Vearing makes the trip to Canberra every year with a group of mates under the title of Riverina Thrashers. Up to 10 cars and 30 people descend on the event from Wagga.
Mr Vearing will take his HZ panel van which he says has evolved over the years.
Summernats gives him the chance to drive his vehicle which cannot be registered.
“The joy of being able to enjoy something that you’ve created and built is great,” Mr Vearing said.
Summernats runs from January 7 to 10 and Mr Vearing said any car enthusiasts should attend.
“It is a good festival to go to and it’s not as wild as what some people hype it up to be,” he said.
