WAGGA doctor Paul Latimer could be in for more than just your average Sydney to Hobart.
Latimer is part of the crew on South Australian boat Enchantress that is in line for handicap honours in this year’s Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
Up against some of the biggest and best yachts in the world, Enchantress could upset them all for prestigious handicap honours when it finishes sometime on Wednesday night.
The 36-feet vessel is believed to be the third-smallest boat in this year’s race and was positioned 74th overall on Tuesday.
Skippered by Gawler sailor John Willoughby, Enchantress survived 40-knot winds that had put forced more than 30 of the 108 starters to retire from the famous race.
Wagga’s James Meggison is another taking part in the Sydney to Hobart aboard Merlin, who was placed 17th overall on Tuesday.
Gundagai-based doctor Paul Mara has his boat Helsal 3 on track for a top 15 finish.
Wagag doctor Charles Oliver is also on Helsal 3.
