LOCAL parents are being offered the chance to help safeguard their children amid alarming figures about child restraints.
The NRMA claims 70 per cent of restraints or boosters are not properly fitted, meaning children are seven times more likely to be hurt in a crash.
On January 16, Wagga’s NRMA MotorServe is offering free inspections of child seats.
Experts will check child restraints and, where necessary, refit the device for optimum safety
NRMA’s Dimitra Vlahomitros said even the most highly-rated child restraint or booster seat was compromised if fitted incorrectly.
“We know around seven in 10 children are inadvertently placed in harm’s way,” Ms Vlahomitros said.
