JOCKEYS will pay tribute to the late Greg Williams on Thursday at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
Jockeys plan to wear black armbands in at least one race on Ted Ryder Cup day on Thursday after Williams passed away on Monday.
Williams was a well-liked member of the racing community and a hobby trainer at Wagga.
The flag at MTC will also be flown at half-mast.
Wagga jockey Brad Clark rode often for Williams and has nothing but great memories of the man.
“He was the best bloke to ride for,” Clark said.
“Any jockey that knew him would dump another trainer to ride for him, he was a champion bloke.
“He always paid way too much. Not just because he wanted to but he was so grateful that we would get out of bed to ride work for him.
“He was a lovely bloke and he will be sadly missed.”
Williams’ last winner came in 2008 at Wagga with Ydontya.
