MURRUMBIDGEE Turf Club (MTC) will open the doors on their recently renovated ladies jockeys room on Thursday.
With the support of Racing NSW, MTC has undertaken a major transformation of the room at a cost of close to $30,000.
The room traditionally could fit about seven jockeys at a tight squeeze but can now accommodate the ever-increasing number of female riders.
MTC chief executive Scott Sanbrook is pleased to be able offer more room for the ladies.
“The percentage of female jockeys riding at race meetings is increasing all of the time and the MTC was keen to improve facilities to meet the modern day needs,” he said.

“Two smaller rooms were transformed into a much larger area for the ladies to keep their gear and prepare for their rides.”
Wagga apprentice jockey Rebeka Prest said it was often hard to fit everyone in on busy racedays.
“It will be good, we needed a bigger room,” Prest said.
