INJURED plagued this 15s team all season, but the boys persevered to take out the local competition on Friday.
Henry Commins was out with a fractured ankle for the start of the spring season, and when that healed Jackson Hughes’ shoulder injury flared up.
With just six players on the team, the remaining five would show up to Bolton Park without fail each week.
The team won their third straight season convincingly, 50-24 on Friday night.
The boys were 10-nil up at quarter time, and the opposition tried to curb their attack but ended up in foul trouble.
“They play a style of running basketball that uses everyone’s talents,” spectator Gabrielle Commins said.
They share around the glory and that gives them the cutting edge.
“They’re very quick and they don’t care who scores; they’re not just relying on one person.”
