TEMORA footballer Luke Breust did all he could but Australia just fell short in the one-off International Rules clash against Ireland on Saturday night.
Breust was named in Australia’s best but the tourists went down to Ireland 3.11.5 (56) to 1.13.7 (52) in front of 38,387 fans at Croke Park in Dublin.
Representing Australia for the second time, Bruest was dangerous throughout the night alongside Eddie Betts and Hayden Ballantyne as part of the visitors explosive small forwards.
Australia were down by 20 points at half-time but staged a dramatic comeback in the second half where they drew within three points with just minutes to go.
The Aussies fell just short however, as Ireland regained the Cormac McAnallen Trophy.
It finishes a memorable overseas tour for Breust and the Australian team.
